The extreme complexity of the negotiations are indisputable. But it is also clear that the ongoing talks between the UK and the EU are a real disaster. However, Mrs T. May did not hesitate to put the exact time and date of the Brexit into legislation! The British PM kept saying that "Brexit means Brexit", yet Brexit today essentially means unprepared British negotiators and eventually a great deal of disillusionment. The reality is that such talks, after more than 40 years of living together, may last as long as 10 to 15 years. Both parties are now embroiled in endless debates. It is therefore hardly surprising to learn that British authorities - but better late than never- are seeking to recruit in a hurry thousands of public servants to work on tens of thousands of pages of agreements between the EU and the UK. Having said that, we must hope that the situation will not continue to deteriorate. It would be to the detriment of both parties. Exports of goods and services from the UK to the other EU countries were worth £ 240 billion, while exports from the rest of the EU to the UK were worth £ 320 billion (Fig.2016). However, exports to the EU represent 13% of UK's GDP but exports to Britain account for only 3% of EU's GDP. Most analysts did say that, without agreement, the UK will be negatively impacted. As a matter of fact, there are now increasing signs that the British economy begins to slow down. It is true that many investment and employment decisions are postponed or even cancelled. It is imperative, therefore, to get out quickly of this mess. Considering our increasingly challenging international environment, there is of course no need for a new trade war.
