If we focus on the indian ocean region we must take account of India's growing concern about China's strategy. China is developing in particular seaports and other major infrastructures in Pakistan and Bengladesh. China is also pursuing its naval expansion and in response India will have to invest massively in its Navy capacities. Over the next decade India plans to build more than a hundred new warships. India has no other alternative than to upgrade its military capabilities despite its current economic turndown.
